Mutiny! - open illustration

This project was an open illustration, which means we got to do pretty much whatever we wanted as long as we set certain goals to accomplish for ourselves. I decided that i wanted to do a serious illustration this time around since the majority of my work is humorous. Pirate Mutiny was my theme. The goals that i set for myself included:      -interior/exterior, multiple figures, props, at least one animal, and a color palette that focus on blue and orange.

A simple rough layout drawing.

Thinking about mood of atmosphere.

Started painting- blocked colors in.

Then put picture in photoshop to think about appropriate values.

This is the final. 12"x24" oil painting on wood.
It was crituqe, and has quite a bit of work to go. So the revision will hopefully be posted soon.
also, sorry for the glare on the top right corner.

IllUSTRATIONS! from pre-spring break

"Tsuki the Barbarian Ruler"
18"x32" oil painting that links to 2 other paintings. It is the middle panel of the triptect.

Line drawing and value study process.

Painting in the process.

All the paintings linked together. The watercolor one on the left is a painting of me depicted as a bard painted by classmate Danielle Jensen. The Middle is Tsuki puddicombe depicted as a hun ruler painted in oil by me "Leigh-Ane Lish Simpson". and the watercolor painting to the right is Danielle Jensen painted by Tsuki Puddicombe.

A close up of the face.

Final Piece. "Ring down the curtain!"
20"x34"
In this illustration assignment i had to take every element out of a single page in the dictionary. So here i have painted in oil an old, worn ringmaster juggling ringnecked ducks, while a bunch of ringtailed raccoons ring-around-the rosy around him.
